Spellroll is a D&D dice roller app made by Journey AI, developed by Yingjie Li. It features 3D physics dice, AI-powered roll narrations, a full character management system, and a smart preset library for tabletop RPG players.
The app is designed with privacy as a first principle. All functionality — including AI narration — runs entirely on your device. Spellroll makes no network requests for its core features. No server is ever contacted to roll your dice, narrate your results, or manage your characters.
Because Spellroll never transmits any information about you, there is nothing to collect, store, sell, or share. This privacy policy exists to document that fact clearly and completely.
Spellroll collects no personal data whatsoever. Here is what the app stores and where it lives:
All on-device data is stored using Apple’s SwiftData framework, which keeps your data in a local database on your device. This data may be included in your iCloud Backup if you have that enabled — that is a standard iOS behavior controlled entirely by you in iOS Settings.
Analytics & Tracking: Spellroll contains no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting services, no advertising frameworks, and no tracking pixels of any kind.
Spellroll’s standout feature is AI-powered narration that crafts dramatic stories for every dice roll. Here is exactly how it works from a privacy perspective:
When you roll dice, Spellroll constructs a prompt using your roll result, character details, and context. This prompt is processed locally by Apple’s on-device language model. The narration is generated on your device and displayed immediately. At no point in this process does any data leave your iPhone.
Spellroll uses no third-party services. There are no embedded SDKs from advertising networks, analytics platforms, social media companies, or data brokers.
The only external system Spellroll interacts with is Apple’s App Store, which handles your download of the app. Apple’s own privacy policy governs those transactions — Spellroll itself receives no payment or identity information from Apple.
Spellroll is appropriate for all ages. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, there is no special risk or concern for children.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction) — or from anyone, for that matter. There is simply nothing to collect.
